Teaching
My mission is to inspire and empower students through music, fostering creativity, technical skill, and personal expression in a supportive and engaging learning environment. We aim to honor the roots of traditional music while exploring contemporary approaches and techniques.
My vision is to build a vibrant community of learners and musicians who connect deeply with music’s cultural heritage and push the boundaries of creative expression. I envision a studio where students of all ages and backgrounds can discover their unique voices and grow as artists, musicians, and individuals.
My teaching philosophy is rooted in the belief that music education should be a journey of discovery, creativity, and connection. I aim to create a learning environment that is both challenging and nurturing, encouraging students to develop technical proficiency while exploring their unique musical voices. By balancing structure with improvisation, I help students build confidence in their abilities and feel free to experiment within their craft.
I approach each lesson with the understanding that every student is different, adapting my methods to meet individual learning styles and goals. Teaching is not only about imparting knowledge; it’s about inspiring curiosity, promoting active participation, and fostering a lifelong love of music. Through exploring a range of genres, including traditional Appalachian folk, bluegrass, jazz, and beyond, I encourage students to appreciate music's vast cultural tapestry. Above all, I am dedicated to helping students grow as musicians and individuals, believing that the lessons learned in music can enrich all areas of life.
